GIH Patient Wards

Differences Between Rooms (Open-Plan & Private)

As the term suggests, probably the greatest reason why people would ask for a private room is to maintain their privacy. Despite the fact that hospital wards are designed as best as they can be so that you maintain some privacy and dignity by being partitioned off with curtain rails for when you are being attended to, for the most part, you do not get a lot of privacy from the other people in the beds surrounding you.

To provide optimal coordinated patient care for the treatment of breast cancer, superior diagnostic strategies for this disease, the most influential and advanced research, and the best avenue to identify patients at risk, while using education, treatment, and diagnostic strategies to improve their well-being.

Other Advantages Of A Private Room
A private room is likely to be less noisy with less activity than an open-plan ward. This will be very beneficial when it comes to rest and recuperation after surgery for example and will also help if you have difficulty sleeping. You’ll be more able to watch TV and listen to music without disturbing other people. Although it would be disingenuous to suggest that hospitals do not take as much care with the hygiene of the ward as they might do with a private room, it must be the case that the fact that you are in your own room as opposed to a busy, sometimes crowded ward where bed occupancy and patient turnover is high, the chances of contracting some kind of infection is likely to be less in a private room. You’ll also enjoy more privacy when you’re receiving visitors.

Paediatrics Ward

A hospital admission can be unsettling for both you and your child, but choosing a ward where you both feel well looked after will help to put your minds at rest. Here are some of the advantages of the GIH Paediatrics Ward:

A Child-friendly Environment
A hospital admission should be fun for your child, not scary. The GIH Paediatric Ward is made to look appealing to children; it is bright, colourful, lively and has a well-stocked play area. We believe that these little details can make a big difference to an anxious child.

Strictly Children Only
Children feel most comfortable with other children so the GIH Paediatrics Ward is strictly for under 16s, with no adults or older teenagers as inpatients.

Trained, Supportive Staff

Our children’s ward staffs are paediatric specialists who recognise that the child is the patient, not the parent. They will be able to answer any question that you have and support you, but will also put you child first by explaining any procedures directly to them in age appropriate terms.
