A Cardiac Care Unit specialises in caring for patients who have come into hospital with a heart complaint. This could include patients who require the investigation of undiagnosed chest pain, diagnosed patients recovering from a heart attack or patients who are awaiting a procedure such as angiography, angioplasty or cardiac surgery.
