Surgery and
Laparoscopy

At GIH, our highly-trained surgeons are dedicated to delivering the best outcome possible for every patient. Your surgeon will consult with you to determine the most appropriate surgical options for your individual situation and to provide you with information on pre-operative preparation and post-operative care and recovery. Along with our skills, technical expertise, and advanced surgical technology, we consider patient safety, quality, and the patient and family experience as our highest priorities.

At Gulu Independent Hospital we provide diagnostic and surgical methods such as:

Endoscopy is a non-surgical procedure used to examine a person’s digestive tract. Using an endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it, your doctor can view pictures of your digestive tract on a color TV monitor. General Open Surgery is the traditional type of surgery where a long incision is made for the surgeon to insert the instruments, visualizing the surgery through the incision.

General surgery is in the vanguard for the introduction of minimally invasive procedures:

Laparoscopic (or “keyhole”) surgery is recognized as an integral and crucial skill that is developing across the entirety of general surgical practice and its subspecialties. Operations are being carried out increasingly by minimally invasive techniques that offer patients less pain, better outcomes, and shorter postoperative recovery. Virtually every abdominal operation can and has been done by this route.
